(442) Carlos Acosta, director of Birmingham Royal Ballet

On today's episode of "Conversations On Dance" we are joined by the legendary dancer, founder of Acosta Danza and director of Birmingham Royal Ballet Carlos Acosta. We hear from Carlos about the mission of unifying Cuban art forms under the umbrella of Acosta Danza, how he came to run the Birmingham Royal Ballet just months before COVID changed the world, why taking big risks, like commissioning a full evening length work to the music of Black Sabbath, has paid off, and what it means to him to watch both of these organizations flourish in upcoming engagements at the Kennedy Center. Acosta Danza will perform at the Kennedy Center May 1st through the 3rd, while Birmingham Royal Ballet will bring "Black Sabbath- The Ballet" to the venue June 4th through 8th. Tickets can be purchased at kennedy-center.org
